LETTER: Kudos to Medford Lakes fire department

Post date: Jan 15, 2012 2:3:43 AM

From the Medford Central Record - September 15, 2011:

To the editor:

On Monday, Sept. 12, my son and I were going for a walk through the neighborhood when we were stopped by a huge tree that had fallen directly across Shawnee Pass.

Needless to say, no traffic was going to get through in either direction. Attempting to move the tree trunk was an effort in futility and we had no chain saw at our disposal.

Next step? We called the fire department! After being redirected to 911, the Medford Lakes Fire Department was dispatched within 10 minutes to cut up and move the offending tree to the side of the road, allowing traffic to once again flow freely in and out of the development.

We would like to thank everyone involved in this seemingly simple task. However, to everyone who needed to enter and exit through Shawnee Pass, you were lifesavers! Thank you for your prompt response.

Joni and Justin Eckart
